German and Bremen craft history
Bremen’s carpenters’ guild shows the carpentry museum in the Ostertor district. A sponsoring association is restoring the facility and preserving the special historic workshop for the future.
In the hall-like machine room, a unique ensemble of more than 20 historic woodworking machines – mainly from before 1900 – has been preserved. All machines have been carefully restored and are still functional today.
Through the purchase of an old carpenter’s workshop in the Ostertor district, a historic workshop was saved from decay and demolition. During the renovation by the carpenters’ guild Bremen and the Förderverein Tischlerei-Museum Bremen, great importance was attached to the preservation of the historical condition.
